Our Story

We are proud that Math Musical Minds is the first and only company of its kind to be founded by a Harvard and Oxford mathematician and musician.

Our creator, Harvard and Oxford Math Scholar Dr. Anne-Marie, learned as a child of the power of music to make learning fun, and to elevate the soul, and felt the need to share her musical talents with the medically and physically challenged.

Beginning at the age of fourteen, when her mother suggested she use her voice to give service to the local community, Anne-Marie sang in hospitals and nursing homes, wanting to use her joy and passion for music to lift the spirit of those who were sick, injured, or elderly.  She formed volunteer groups across the U.S. to encourage other students like herself to enjoy the magic of what happens when you give the gift of music and see its effect on the spirit, the mind, and the heart of both the musician and the listener.

She is also a vocalist and composer.  She began singing at age six, composed her first musical at age twelve, and has sung the national anthem for nationally televised events such as the US. Open Championships and NBA games.  She has also performed on the West End and in the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremonies.

But it wasn't until she was injured in a car accident that she experienced first-hand the power of music to uplift the spirit and the mind.  So she created HOSPITAL ROCK! and DOCTOR'S OFFICE ROCK!, writing the screenplays, composing all of the music, drawing the storyboards, performing the singing, and providing the voices for most of the characters in the cartoons.  HOSPITAL ROCK! and DOCTOR'S OFFICE ROCK! are now being used in hospitals and homes, both as teaching tools to acquaint healthy children with music and the hospital and doctors, and as soothing tools for children who are tired or sick.

Seeing the joy her products have brought to children, Anne-Marie decided to use her mathematical expertise to create a line of math products to follow in the footsteps of HOSPITAL ROCK! and DOCTOR’S OFFICE ROCK!.  She used music herself to learn as a child, and saw first-hand how much easier and more fun learning math can be when music is involved.  Now she has developed Math Musical Minds, a children's video harnessing the power of music and animation to inspire creativity in mathematics.  Video products are available now, and CDs, apps, DVDs, and more tools for a range of ages will follow soon.

Join us in our mission at Math Musical Minds to use rhythm, singing, dancing, and music to nurture and inspire little hearts, minds, and spirits!

Testimonials

"These videos go well beyond your basic children’s programming that may throw in a counting song, or not-very-subtle math segment disguised as the characters just having fun.  Math Musical Minds taps into the inherent ways that math and music are related, and work together, without it ever feeling forced or obvious.  Math Musical Minds gets kids having fun first and then deconstructs the math behind it.  For parents who want their children to get a head start on the perceived difficulties of math learning, I’d recommend the Math Musical Minds videos and products (and I already have recommended them to a few families I know)."

"I had the pleasure of viewing Hospital Rock, a wonderful 12 minute children's DVD specifically created to help emotionally prepare children for hospitalization, extended-stay and visiting hospitalized family members.  As a practicing pediatrician for over 40 years, I know how psychologically traumatic hospitalization can be for both these young patients and their parents.

This is a wonderfully positive and creative video production that includes animation, original songs and great music to help desensitize children prior to their initial exposure to potentially frightening medical procedures and equipment. This goal is successfully accomplished by a delightful song and dance ensemble of charming animated characters accompanied by a reassuring narration.

From my own professional experience as a pediatrician, I am sure this DVD will prove to be very psychologically effective in lessening children's fears and reducing their stress as a way of reassuring them and easing their anxiety.

As such, I highly recommend this DVD as beneficial to both child and parent alike."

"The animation is fun, and the music is upbeat."

Ben, father of 2

"We all remember learning our ABCs to a wonderful, upbeat song, which made memorizing so much easier.  Why wouldn't we want to learn math to music?"
